Board Certified General Surgeon Andrew Loveitt, D.O., joined the medical staff in August 2017 when he began his post graduate advanced surgical training at the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery. He stayed on staff and in 2018 became the medical director of what is now the Hernia Specialists of Minnesota. In 2020, Dr. Loveitt was named a Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation.  He continues to foster his knowledge of hernia repair as a member of the American Hernia Society and regularly attends hernia specific educational conferences. His specific interests in hernia include the use of alternatives to traditional plastic mesh, robotic repair, and reconstruction of large abdominal wall hernias. Recently, Dr. Loveitt has acted as a proctor, training other surgeons on robotic assisted hernia repair techniques.

Originally from Gorham, Maine, Dr. Loveitt earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, and his Bachelor of Science degree at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Penn. He completed a General Surgery Residency at Rowan University in Stratford, New Jersey.  The surgeon has won numerous academic awards. His wife, Courtenay Deane, is an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine physician at CRMC. Outside of work, Dr. Loveitt enjoys numerous outdoor recreation activities including boating, skiing, and cycling.
